October 3, 2024 - Cambridge and Blackwater Swamp with Mugsy

Mugsy wanted to try the new restaurant at Cambridge, so we headed there for lunch.

Parked on the ramp at Cambridge.  Mick showed up in his Mustang II, pictured at far right.  I enjoyed a delicious cheeseburger in the restaurant.

Afterwards, Mick does a fly by at Cambridge.   Five years ago this plane looked like this:  Link.

Departing Cambridge, Mugsy and I proceeded south out over the swamplands.

The land of sea and water.

The lower portion of that road looks like it is under water.

Mugsy approaching Hooper's Island.

Beyond the bridge is the Chesapeake Bay.

Upper Hooper Island at left.

Now looking south.

Part of Middle Hooper Island.

Hoopersville.  Why of course it is.

A good shot of the entire Middle Hoopers Island at center.

The water seemed very high.  These two trucks make a wake going north on Hoopersville Road.

Following Mugsy down low over the swamp.

Pretty fall day.

Following one of the unnamed rivers north from the Blackwater Swamp.

We checked out Tommy Miller's grass strip and chicken farm for old times sake.  Tommy flew west a couple of year's ago but his family still keeps the runway up.

Mugsy buzzes the grass strip at Miller's Farm.

After Mugsy headed in to Easton, I flew up the Tuckahoe Creek; very scenic this time of year.

Tuckahoe Creek.

Tuckahoe Creek ends at a little town called Queen Anne.   Route 404 -- a road I have driven many times as it's the way to Ocean City -- crosses what's left of the creek.

A better look at Route 404 and what's left of Tuckahoe Creek.

There used to be nothing at this intersection.  Now it has a big Royal Farm, a Subway, and a Race Car dealer.
